Peace on Earth
Ponder ponder ponder....I could get lost in my head but it seems like an unhealthy place to be right now.
Dr. Amen , my favorite brain health clinician, says we have to have an anteater who eats the 'A.N.T.S.' (automatic negative thoughts) we have running around in my head.
This is a very helpful visual for me right now. I hate it when I allow my self to worry or fear. Just a evil thing to do and a very bad use of my time and energy.
On a lighter note,
We discovered who was peaking in the gifts under the tree....
Justine is one of our 2 rescued ferrets. We have had them a year now. They are allot of work to keep clean and smell free but I cant give them away out into the world not knowing if anyone will care for them. They are not pets for the casual pet owner but over the year they have become very focused on us and I cant help but feel responsible for them until they die a nice fat comfortable life in their clean and well maintained little cage. They get to run around a few hours every day or so. Turns out she was very curious about the trees and everything under it. She tends to steal things in crinkly paper and drag them off to one of several hiding places. Our male , Reno, likes things with rubber, like the buttons on the remote or spatulas....its never dull having them around.
We discovered who owned the dogs killing our chickens over the last few years. I actually caught the dogs at 1 n the morning in my pjs as they could get into the fence but not back out. I caged them in a dog kennel and called the sheriff in the morning. There are no laws on the books allowing him to do anything but to cite the neighbor. I called the vet on the rabies tag and found out who they belong to. When the sheriff called the guy he denied they were his dogs until the sheriff told them about the tags, then he admitted they were his. They are promising to give our kid some $$ to replace the poultry and will 'try' to keep the dogs out of our yard. I will let you know how either thing plays out. Yes, I know I could shoot them but its not in me. Once I had them by the collar and they were waggin theri tails and being sweet....my heart swelled....its not their fault they have irresponsible owners.
OK...I am gonna go make some cookies.

> Happy Period
This is an actual letter from an Austin, Texas woman sent to Proctor andGamble regarding one of their feminine products. She really gets rolling
after the first paragraph. This was PC Magazine's 2007 Editors'
Choice award-winner for the best letter sent via e-mail.
Dear Mr. Thatcher,
I have been a loyal user of your 'Always' maxi pads for over 20 years and I
appreciate many of their features. Why, without the LeakGuard Core or
Dri-Weave absorbency, I'd probably never go horseback riding or salsa
dancing, and I'd certainly steer clear of running up and down the beach in
tight, white shorts.
But my favorite feature has to be your revolutionary Flexi-Wings. Kudos on
being the only company smart enough to realize how crucial it is that maxi
pads be aerodynamic. I can't tell you how safe and secure I feel each month
knowing there's a little F-16 in my pants.
Have you ever had a menstrual period, Mr. Thatcher? I'm guessing you
haven't. Well, my time of the month is starting right now.
As I type, I can already feel hormonal forces violently surging through my
body. Just a few minutes from now, my body will adjust and I'll be
transformed into what my husband likes to call 'an inbred hillbilly with
knife skills.'
Isn't the human body amazing?
As Brand Manager in the Feminine-Hygiene Division, you've no doubt seen
quite a bit of research on what exactly happens during your customer's
monthly visits from 'Aunt Flo'. Therefore, you must know about the bloating,
puffiness, and cramping we endure, and about our intense mood swings, crying
jags, and out-of-control behavior. You surely realize it's a tough time for
most women.
The point is, sir, you of all people must realize that America is just
crawling with homicidal maniacs in Capri pants... Which brings me to the
reason for my letter. Last month, while in the throes of cramping so painful
I wanted to reach inside my body and yank out my uterus, I opened an Always
maxi-pad, and there, printed on the adhesive backing, were these words:
'Have a Happy Period.'
Are you f------ kidding me? What I mean is, does any part of your tiny
middle-manager brain really think happiness - actual smiling, laughing
happiness, is possible during a menstrual period? Did anything mentioned
above sound the least bit pleasurable? Well, did it, James?
FYI, unless you're some kind of sick S&M freak, there will never be anything
'happy' about a day in which you have to jack yourself up on Motrin and
Kahlua and lock yourself in your house just so you don't march down to the
local Walgreen's armed with a hunting rifle and a sketchy plan to end your
life in a blaze of glory.
For the love of God, pull your head out, man! If you have to slap a moronic
message on a maxi pad, wouldn't it make more sense to say something that's
actually pertinent, like 'Put down the Hammer' or 'Vehicular Manslaughter is
Wrong'.
Sir, please inform your Accounting Department that, effective immediately,
there will be an $8 drop in monthly profits, for I have chosen to take my
maxi-pad business elsewhere. And though I will certainly miss your
Flex-Wings, I will not for one minute miss your brand of condescending
bullsh!t. And that's a promise I will keep.
Always. . ..

Oh to be lazy....
Well, its Monday.
DH is away until Friday.
Kid is in school.
I am not scheduled at work until Friday.
4 days...all mine.
Should I be productive?
Should I just chill?
I predict chillin with periods of productivity.
I have applied for another part time job. The Application deadline was yesterday.
Its a federal job so I might here something next week.
In some ways its nice to apply for a Federal position since being in such a small place, I have been passed over for jobs I am qualified for that went to others who are locals or family member's. Its just part of life in a small place. I had applied for a position with this same agency office here in town a year ago, a contracted position. The folks in the office thought I would be great for it but the next level of supervisors hire someone local reportedly because they didn't know me and I might move some day. The person hired wasn't moving ever. And she is a great lady so not grudges. But the jobs that open up here and are filled by local folks stay filled for long periods of time. I think once someone gets a good job they never leave it and understandably so. But, since I had to send of a federal app to Denver, I might have a better shot since the decision wont be totally local.
Something has killed and dragged off 5 of my chickens. I am trying to make sure they are all locked up but I think whatever it is is coming during they day. I am hoping to keep Buddy on patrol but suspect I might need a bigger dog. I miss my old dog Mugsey. I might seek out to buy another like him, a black mouth curr....but they are expensive! So, we will see.
I bought plane tickets for Charlotte and Colin to come home for Christmas. I am super excited for this!!!! YEA YEA YEA! I miss my kid....so, if anyone needs yarn or wants to buy some for Christmas gifts...check out my etsey store and my for sale items listed on the right of my home page. I need to pay for the tickets!
ok...I am gonna go spurt so productivity.

Sunday morning
Do Unto Others –
A man was having a conversation with the Lord one day and said, “Lord, I would like to know what heaven and hell are like.”
The Lord led the man to two doors. He opened one of the doors and the man looked in. In the middle of the room was a large round table. In the middle of the table was a large pot of stew, which smelled delicious and made the man's mouth water. The people sitting around the table were thin and sickly. They appeared to be famished. They were holding spoons with very long handles that were strapped to their arms. Although each found it possible to reach into the pot of stew and take a spoonful, they could not get the spoon in their mouth because the handle was longer than their arm.
The man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering. The Lord said, “You have seen hell.”
They went to the next room and opened the door. It was exactly the same as the first room. There was the large round table with the large pot of stew, which made the man's mouth water. The people were equipped with the same long-handled spoons, but here the people were well nourished and plump, laughing and talking.
The man said, “I don't understand.”
“It is simple,” said the Lord. “It requires but one skill. You see, they have learned to feed each other. The people in the other room, on the other hand, think only of themselves.”
“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

New goats
I lost my little goat Philip so Thomas was all alone. Not a good thing for a goat.
So we picked up 2 new ones!
Jacob, a 2 year old pygora wether...he is shy.
And Jonah, a 6 month old Saneen/pygora cross.
He is obviously eating well.
Nique loves Jonah tho he is not sure about her.
Thomas is happier too.
And he is ever curious.
My happy boys...becoming a herd.
And during the time I was taking pictures the ducks paraded by....the males are always arguing...usually politics.

I call myself a blurter.
blurt verb (used with object)
1. to utter suddenly or inadvertently; divulge impulsively or unadvisedly (usually fol. by out): He blurted out the hiding place of the spy. I just say stuff, stuff I shouldnt.
Life long problem.
It kils me tho when I hurt someone becuase of it.
How old until I learn.

How much should we give...
The answer is more more more.....
What are you doing to get ready for the end of the world as we know it or do you think thats crap?
My friend asked me last week this strange question.
She is a fundamental Baptist.
Her son married a Jewish girl.
They have a new daughter.
My friend said she wanted to ask her son if his wife knew what to do when (not if) he and the baby were raptured and she was left behind. I almost choked and told her I would be very careful how I asked that question if she still wanted to see her grandchild.
But, really....hum....

Oh what a night...
SO yea,
Left work and almost ran into some good looking young men chatting by the back door...
I gave them my best 'HEY" smile and they smiled back at me...
I am thinking 'Yea, I still got it!'.
Then I saw I was still wearing my hair net.

Can you steal something about love?
SO maybe I'll say I just borrowed this from a friend..1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (The Message)
3-7If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don't love, I've gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love.
Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.
Love doesn't strut,
Doesn't have a swelled head,
Doesn't force itself on others,
Isn't always "me first,"
Doesn't fly off the handle,
Doesn't keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn't revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end. What its all about babies!

My trip home to Maine...final pics....
My last day in Maine I wanted to just be. Know what I mean?
I just wanted to be in the place I called home....I went and walked my favorite spot....a foot bridge between the twin mill cities my dad and mom called home.
Scott paper company and many other mills were a big part of the Maine industry for a long time. When I was a kid we often had logs floating down river, cut somewhere up north...and floated to the paper mills to make lots of products....
There is a foot bridge leading from one side of the river to the other, the Kennebec, so workers from Waterville to walk to the Mill in Winslow...
Scott Paper company mill, now closed....
Looking the other way...south
Keyes Fiber mill is just on the other side of the road bridge on the other side of this train bridge.....there are water falls just under this bridge...
The mills and logging and the Maine woods, are just part of my past....
And the bridge is part of the story...looking to the Waterville side...
And looking to Winslow....
I visited my dads sister Virginia....
She says I remind her so much of my dad....this made me happy...
I visited both my grandparents graves....
My dads parents...
And my moms dad and some of her siblings...her mom is buried in Van Buren, Maine...we might go up there next summer....its way up north and its where my mom was born and raised on the family potato farm.
I went to my sister Pats house....
She has lived there most all my life and it is the closest thing to home I have....
We picked raspberries from her vast bushes...this is Pat and Molly, the basset. They always have hounds.
She lives along the Sabastacook river...
.
Lots of snapdragons too..
We had a nice sister dinner but I didn't take any picks...sorry!
The last day my sister Susan and I stopped at our parents graves on the way back to Massachusetts.
I had never ever done this.
It was good.
We cried.
We held hands.
We said a prayer.
I cannot tell you how much I miss them.
...
OK...
Right before I left to get on the plane, I had one last stop to make,
Coffee for me, donuts for Nique.
It was a good trip.
The end.

NOTICE: SIT UP/WAKE UP This is IMPORTANT!!!
NOTICE: SIT UP/WAKE UP
This is IMPORTANT!!!
Okay, here goes. There is going to be (well, we're working on it) a Xanga friends gathering in the next month in Salina, KS. The following was posted by Grannyhummingbird:If we were to try to get together in Salina, KS., in the next couple or three weeks, are there any of you interested, besides, Muzwah, SunnyC, and myself? Does anyone know if there's a nice motel in which we could stay? Restaurants near? Would you want the weekend, or weekdays? I would like to keep the weekend of the 4th clear, because I'd like to go to church with Redlegsix.
Other dates, I'm open to.
Me again: OKAY: So far we have someone from CO, MO, IL........who else can come? At this point in time Wil is the only male that I'm sure will come. Of course he won't have much trouble adjusting to all females but know he would like to have a male to talk to and possibly go see sights that females might not enjoy.
Within 20 miles is Abilene, KS with the Eisenhower Library/Museum, Old Town, etc.
As far as day of the week goes.....Tues, Wed, Thurs are always good for us....and because I said that ...........you know how it goes.
TUESDAY WEND AND THURSDAYS ARE GREAT FOR ME!!! ~Muzwah....
How fun!!!

see relatedThe phoenix....
In Chinese astrology the Rooster is also known as the 'Phoenix'.
What they meant was the Asian bantam Phoenix rooster....
I bought Nique 6 phoenix chickens for her birthday in May.
3are little roosters....
I walked around the corner of the house today and only the roosters were perched on this old wheel....
A silver, a red and a white....they tend to like to be up high since their tails get so long...but I still thought that it was very random and cute. There are 3 hens and 5 little silkies too...but they were all grounded.
The silkies is a south east Asian breed know for being very fluffy. They also have black skin and bones. They are are considered medicinal. You can see a few behind the wheel.
They look like little puff balls and are very gentle, tame and broody, meaning, they like to sit on eggs and hatch them out.
The ducks were also in their 'pool'
We cant have anything lower to the ground until the baby chicks are bigger so they wont drown.
The chicks think the ducks are momma and dad.
The big hens all run for me whenever I step out the door...
Always hoping I have food, which is often the case.
The cats like sleeping in the nesting boxes...
And there is always someone who is curious about what I am doing...
Food?
I rototillered a huge garden for spring with this bad boy...
Oh yes, Montgomery Wards...heck ya....tough as nails...
There are allot of horrible weeds in my free dirt.
I am not complaining tho...it was ALLOT of dirt and really helped me out!
These have stickers and make me sneeze....
These are goat heads...the worse spiky plant ever!
I decided to smother them out....
I will just move the black plastic around until they are all DEAD DEAD DEAD!
As you can see....
I have cute little friends who like to graze....
Fat little goat!
I wont be smothering out the sunflowers....
Bye for now....

A Tale With a Storybook Ending
Boston Homeless Book Club Draws on Common Interests to Bring People Together
By Steve Hartman
-
Play CBS Video Video An Unlikely Friendship Steve Hartman reports on the book club that's inspiring people in other states and countries. It all began with an unlikely friendship between two men, one a lawyer and the other homeless.

(CBS) They met on Boston Common - two men with little in common. One a well-heeled, high-powered attorney, the other a street-schooled, often ignored homeless person.
Rob slept on a sidewalk. Peter had a swank condo in the Back Bay. But every morning they would cross paths here in the park and over the course of several months, actually became good friends, reports CBS News correspondent Steve Hartman.
How did that happen? Such contrasting men, living such disparate lives. You'd think after the weather and box scores they'd run out of things to talk about. And indeed, they did run out.
"So I gave Robert a copy of a book I really loved called 'Water for Elephants' and we would talk about that," Peter said.
Discussing the book became their way of connecting, and a friendship was born.
"And then one day I asked him, 'What'd you do with the book?' and he said, 'I gave it to a fella over there,'" Peter said.
"I knew there were a lot of people who read," Rob said.
"So it occurred to us that there was an interest out here that could draw people together," Peter said.
"You'd be surprised by how many people actually read," Rob said.
About a year ago, Peter and Ron started the Homeless Book Club. The week CBS News visited, the group was dissecting a group of short stories by O'Henry. They meet every Tuesday in a church conference room. Peter buys the books. In the beginning he offered to bring in lunch too, but the members said "no thanks." They wanted this to be about more than just another free lunch.
"For me it's a place to go and escape," said Donald, a member.
"And to question things," said Betsey, another member.
"Yeah, I feel more sophisticated," said Jamie, a member, laughing.
Unlike the others, Jamie, who lives in a rooming house, says he never used to be a reader. His addictions were the priority.
"I picked up the first book and started reading it and I couldn't put it down," Jamie said.
Addicted still, only now, to literature.
"If I keep reading, and keeping my mind occupied, I'm less likely to hurt myself in life," Jamie said.
Testimonials like that are now inspiring other people in other cities, even other countries, to start putting together their own homeless book clubs.
And as for the homeless man who started it all - Rob - turns out, the only reason he couldn’t get subsidized housing was because he had an unresolved moving violation on his record. Fortunately, he knows a good lawyer.
Peter was able to clear up that traffic ticket, which is why tonight Rob is no longer on the streets. He's housed and working as a church custodian. -

My trip home to Maine ~ Day 4
After the reunion I went from Harpswell to Waterville, ME..where I was born and raised!
I walked into my sisters house and....
I found Jack....
Jack was a kitten Charlotte pulled out of a box a little barefoot girl was sitting on in front of the Leverett coop when she was but 4....when we moved away from New England we had to leave him behind. He lives with my sister Kathie. So, Charlotte being almost 20, Jack is almost 17 years old. He is blind and full of fur balls but I just hugged and cried.
This is Charlotte when she was 4.
Charlotte, Nique and Jack....he is 3 here.
Nique and Jack, he was very tolerant......
It was like my daughters childhoods became real again....so sweet.
We bought a bunch of sweet corn, veggies and 'steamers'
Clams that you steam open and eat with butter. We use to dig these up alllll the time as a kid.
They tasted perfect!
Later that night my sister and I drove by the house I grew up in, it looked like crap, and at the end of this long road, there was this kitten. It was twilight and we were a mile from a house and my sister said "Was that a cat?". I got out and picked up this kitty....
He has one blue eye and one gold eye....every pretty. He got a flea bath and now lives next door to kathie. He is very sweet.
The next day I went to the church I was saved at and went to their school for High School.
It wasn't the same.
It was nice to go but you can never go back. I honestly, didn't like the pastors and predict something is very wrong. Time will tell.
On Sunday my High School classmate, yes, one classmate, Ruth and our bestest Junior friend, Dee...came to visit.
Dee. held the baton thing during the graduation march...so we reenacted my HS graduation march.
Except alll you can see is Ruth's hand and well, we didn't actually touch during the march.
Ruth and Betsy, May 1984.
Ruth, ma and Dee July 2009.
We all look pretty much the same.
We had too much fun. I sure wish Debbie was there...
NEXT TIME KISSED B.A.D.(you know who you are!)
This is my HS graduation pic....
More later...

Well, my hens are laying about 10 eggs a day...
This Hen....

....and this morning we got this...
It was Nique's breakfast for the first day of school....
Should be very very lucky!
This is Nique and her friend Marisa and Marisa's dog, Dixie....its Marisa's first day of High School....
Is it too dorky to take pics of your Jr High kids first day of school?
